Professor Steven Franks, Professor of Linguistics and Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Indiana University in Bloomington, is visiting Serbia and Montenegro at the invitation of Jelena Runic, JFDP alumna, who spent a year on JFDP at the same University in the US. Professor Franks held a series of lectures from the late April till the mid-May at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. He visited Belgrade from 14th to 17th of May. On May 15, he had a meeting with students of Faculty of Philology of University of Belgrade, and on that occasion his wife, Karen Franks, an advisor for undergraduate students at Indiana University, had presentation on higher education in the US. On Tuesday, May 16th, Professor Steven Franks had a lecture on "Clitic Placement in Bulgarian Compound Tenses: PF-Side versus Syntactic Approaches", and linguists from Novi Sad and Nis came to Faculty of Philology in Belgrade to attend it. He also had a meeting with the Dean of Faculty of Philology and they discussed the studies of philology and linguistics in Belgrade and in Indiana. His visit was financially supported by the Faculty of Philology and the Department of Linguistics.
