JFDP Alumnus Rasid Hadzovic and his students compete in the Faculty of Civil Engineering Competition - Gradjevinijada 2006 at Zlatar

On 06 May, 2006, JFDP Alumnus Rasid Hadzovic took 35 of his best students to participate in Gradjevinijada 2006 – a Faculty of Civil Engineering Competition between 11 different universities from the former Yugoslavia - two from Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), two from Slovenia, and seven from Serbia. The competition was held at the mountain "Zlatar" in Serbia. More than 1,000 students participated.

Professors constructed tests for the students from five different fields of studies. Dr. Hadzovic;s students received first place in "Management of Construction," and third place in "Static." In the non-academic competitions, the Faculty picked up second place for male soccer. Ocerall, Dr. Hadzovic's students placed fifth out of eleven schools, the best result they had ever achieved.

Aside from competing against other faculties, Dr. Hadzovic and his students were able to meet with students and professors from all over the region. Among other things, they discussed the Bologna Declaration and its impact on Civil Engineering Faculties. Also, four distinguished professors gave lectures.

The students came back on 11 May, 2006, satisifed and thankful for the help that American Councils provided.

Most importantly, new generations of students and professors were able to reforge the connections that once existed between faculties in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina - connections that had been severely damaged by the events of the past ten years.
