I was placed at University of California – Berkeley . I‘ve been there for two semesters and one more month during the first period of internship. Last month I spent in Washington D.C. , and this was second part of my internship.

I have had two internships. First one was at Survey Research Center – University of California , and it was very useful since my supervisor Mike Hout was great in statistical analysis of data, and I learned a lot from him. Second internship was in American Sociological Associations – Washington D.C. There I was working in research department and I think I was useful in working on the researches that had been carried on. This experience was great and I have best memories from this period since I was doing my job and I gained many friends in D.C.

It was very helpful and promising period of life, although I need some time to get acquainted with American way of life and especially way of studying. It was great opportunity as well in terms of better estimation of my own capabilities and competences. After all I understood that you have totally rely on yourself in US and that you have to be active if you want to achieve anything, and this massage is one of the most important that I would like to share with those who will be future fellows in US. Since I like to move, I was traveling almost all the time and I acknowledged the differences among different states in US, and this is also something that has to be perfectly clear. It looked like to me that in terms of culture and way of living it is more appropriate to speak about ‘Americas' and not about ‘America'. All in all from the theoretical point of view the most useful approach would be social constructivism (you have to construct your own way of living) and postmodernism (every small group or even every individual is something totally specific).

I was elected for the associate professor at the Faculty of political sciences – University of Podgorica , so beside my teaching position at the College for Industrial Management I will teach methodology of social research in Podgorica. Also, I successfully completed ‘DEMOCRACY INDEX', project supported by National Endowment for Democracy ( Washington D.C. ), and I am encouraged to continue this project for one more year. At the moment I am working on EUMAP Roma inclusion project in cooperation with Foundation for Open Society. In this project I am education specialist for Montenegro . Also, I am working on one project with International Organization for Migration and it is a research of human trafficking in Montenegro . Of course, on the regular basis I am working with Center for Democracy and Human Rights in Podgorica on public opinion researches focused on different aspects of social and institutional transformation. In the scientific field I got funding from Norwegian Research Councils (for three years) for the project named “Man, Masculinity and Violence in Western Balkan Societies”. This is going to be empirical and theoretical analysis of connectedness between masculinity and violence. This is gong to be comparative analysis among Serbia , Montenegro and Kosovo. Finally, I am writing the book “15 years of transition in Montenegro ” and this book will be focused on all the most important sociological issues such as social mobility, social stratification, ethnical identities, religiousness etc. This book will be summary of my empirical and theoretical effort in last 15 years.

Nothing particularly, I will just continue to teach and research wherever it makes sense and wherever I am invited to do so.

I am happy to become an official for American Football in USAFS – Serbia , so all my free time I will spend in the football filed by officiating the games in domestic league.
